I really enjoyed yesterday'southward open thread (thank you for stopping by), and I'll still be hanging out in the comments at that place if y'all want to chat.
Then…tell me about fireworks. Did you meet whatsoever terminal nighttime? We saw a few sparkles in the heaven from our house, but that's about it. Nosotros did, notwithstanding, run across one of the coolest movies I've seen in a long time. If yous like thought-provoking sci-fi — oh! — you have to see Snowpiercer.
WOW! What a fan-friggin'-tastic sci-fi movie. I'm going to be seeing scenes from that pic in my head for the rest of my life.
It stars Chris Evans (Captain America), Jamie Bell (Baton Elliott, Jumper), Tilda Swinton (The G Budapest Hotel, The Deep Cease) and quite a few other good actors.
It's kind of a weird premise, but that's a recipe for skillful sci-fi. It'south near a train. The whole thing takes place on a train, but it doesn't really feel claustrophobic, because the railroad train is their unabridged earth. For reasons explained in the movie, the people on the railroad train tin can't exit. Tin't always step foot off the train. Ever.
There's a struggle for leadership to control the limited resources on the railroad train, and intense commotion ensues.
Alarm: It's shocking and gruesome and twisted at times.
Seriously, if you lot consider yourself a fan of sci-fi, yous gotta come across Snowpiercer.
